AB - The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of certain exercises to enhance the movement trajectory and performance of lower level shot putters. This was done by creating a series of exercises from the thrower's bio mechanical analysis to improve technical efficiency and to minimize movement errors when performing the throw. The training program was applied to several junior shot putters, and several relevant kinematic variables were measured such as the angular speed, the trajectory of the center of gravity, the time that the athlete spends on the surface and the body position during the release phases. The results indicated that the throwers' movement trajectory was an improvement which directly impacted on their performance development and distance thrown. The study found that certain exercises are an effective component in the development of technical performance of the junior shot putters and suggest these exercises be incorporated into the training program for better youth competitiveness and performance in shot put games.
