    abstract = {The study examines the success rates of first and second serve receptions and their direct connection to the results of the match in the 2024-2025 French Open. The study takes place on clay courts which reduces the effect of quick serves and increases rallies, examining the movement between defense and offense using return skills. The study is based on a descriptive-analytical approach of the best data in the tournaments (like the Infosys Match Centre, the official ATP or WTA data) and shows that returns on first serve are mainly counterbalanced by server dominance, that returns on second serve are the main source of offensive opportunities. Empirically, it was found that second-serve receptions have significantly higher returns in terms of point-won receptions – on average, the return rate for the second serve was 58% compared to the 26% return rate for the first serve, and the break conversion for the second serve was 46% while it was 35% for the first serve. Based on this, the second serve return efficiency is a good tactical indicator at Roland Garros for identifying and winning serve breaks and matches.}
